Chihuahua Survives Fork In The Brain

Smokey the chihuahua is recovering well after having his brain pierced by a barbecue fork.

In a freak accident during a garden party Smokey’s owners say the barbecue fork broke and the three inch prongs flew through the air and then embedded themselves in Smokey’s brainball.

The distressed puppy ran from the party and hid in nearby woodland for two days before being found. The tough pup was then taken to an animal hospital near the family home in Kentucky.

Vet Keaton Smith performed the surgery on the little fella.

“When we got the x-ray up it was clear that this fork was not in the skull cavity, or behind the eye, it was in the brain.” Said Smith

“Smokey had been out in the woods for two days with this in his head and we really didn’t know what would happen when we pulled it out, it was 50/50 if he would make it.”

“The operation didn’t really take any time at all, I just shaved his head and then pulled it out, it was all over in 30 seconds.”

Smokey is expected to make a full recovery. The Daily Mail published these amazing pictures of Smokey.
