27 year old Carol Dixon-Yeung almost crashed her Audi TT when she spotted a snake wriggling across her windscreen as she drove along the road.

In a panic Miss Dixon-Yeung slammed her foot down on the accelerator and began swerving the car recklessly in an attempt to shake the reptile off her vehicle. When this didn’t work she drove into a supermarket car park and asked shop assistants to help her.

“It was so scary because normally when a creature is brightly coloured it means it is dangerous. I’m absolutely terrified of snakes so I panicked and reached for the button to do up the windows, but I was shaking so much I couldn’t do it.” She told the Daily mail

“I daren’t stop in case it got me so I really put my foot down and swerved the car quickly from side to side to try and shake the thing off. Other drivers must have thought I’d gone mad.”

“It wouldn’t budge and it was starting to move closer to the driver’s side door, so I decided to head for the shopping centre and pray someone brave would be able to remove it. I drove around Sainsbury’s car park twice but I couldn’t see anyone, I was petrified by this point. So I headed for Asda, saw some staff and just headed towards them.”

“By this time it had gone out of sight, which was the scariest thing because I didn’t have a clue where it was.”

A member of Asda staff identified the snake as a harmless North American corn snake, they retrieved the reptile and then strangely released it into the wild at the back of the store.

Miss Dixon-Yeung believes the snake was put in her car by a spurned ex-boyfriend.

“I doubt it’s an escaped pet because I live in a detached house in the middle of nowhere. I’m surrounded by fields. We get the odd adder but nothing like this. I can only think it’s some sort of stunt by an ex-boyfriend I have really annoyed in some way. That’s what my current boyfriend thinks anyway.”
