John Harrison, who wrote the screenplay for the new Clive Barker movie Book of Blood and also wrote the Dune TV miniseries back in 2000 is now working on a new TV miniseries based on Stephen King’s Cell.
Stephen King is seemingly happy for almost anyone to ruin his books by making really piss-poor movies out of them. For every Shining there must be a dozen abysmal Stephen King adaptations stinking up someone’s DVD collection. Harrison has quite an impressive CV, OK he’s no Kubrick but he might be just the man to pull off a Cell miniseries.
The King novel from 2006 sees the population of America transformed into zombie-like, brainless killers running amok after a signal is sent through their cell phones.
I’m just hoping that by the time the miniseries is broadcast in the UK they can change the title to the correct term, ‘mobile phone’.
