The Shed of the year 2009 has been announced by We Love Sheds.
Steven Harwood from West Wales won the competition with his Kite Cabin. Harwood built the shed from scratch from his own design, the cabin features a compost toilet, bunk beds and even Sky television.
Harwood said: “I entered Shed of the Year because I feel I have a very special shed in a very special place. The location is unbeatable in my opinion with amazing panoramic views.
“It is surrounded by nature including kites, badgers and various birds. It is such a useable space and is not pre-ordered like so many sheds these days. It is a realisation of my idea and I love it.
“I hope that my cabin will be an inspiration for others and what can be done in an otherwise dead space.”
Harwood receives a year’s supply of cheese, a £50 gift voucher and a wind-up Trevor Baylis radio in prizes.
The Shed of the Year competition is now in it’s third year and is becoming a hugely popular success. Shed owners can enter their sheds in one of thirteen different categories and the general public vote for a winner in each category.
Once the thirteen finalists are decided it is up to a panel of judges to select an overall winner. The panel include former Shed of the Year winners, shed experts and celebrity judges including the large-chested property expert Sarah Beeny and ginger tosser Chris Evans.
