The Flamingo Land Park, near Malton, North Yorks are proud to announce the opening of the world’s steepest roller coaster ride, The Mumbo Jumbo.
As you can see from the video, it is quite impressive. The first drop is so steep you actually go back on yourself, after that drop you can then look forward to some mean bends and a few corkscrew manoeuvres that tip the coaster car upside down.
Flamingo Land Park management say the £4 million ride has a 112 degree drop, lasts 38 seconds and is a similar sensation to those experienced by jet fighter pilots.
Gordon Gibb, Chief Executive of the park, told the Telegraph: “This is a fantastic achievement for Flamingo Land. We are extremely proud of our new ride. It’s a world beater, and it definitely puts us in the theme park premier league.
“There’s nothing like it anywhere in the UK or Europe. In fact, you’d have to travel to Indiana Beach in the USA to come anywhere close and even then, our ‘coaster is steeper by one degree.
“It is exciting for a relatively small family business like Flamingo Land to be punching well above its weight. Mumbo Jumbo looks set to become a National icon, we are all very excited.
Carl Saville from Guinness World of Records said: “Now it has successfully completed ten rides it has definitely claimed the world record.
“We have confirmed that the angle of descent in a particular part of the ride is 112 degrees which constitutes a new world record.”
