Piping The Truth Into Your Brainballs!
Story published on July 6, 2009
James O’Barr’s The Crow is a cult classic comic book which was transformed into an excellent gothic action film starring the late Brandon Lee.
The comic is superb, it tells the story of a murdered rock musician who is raised from the dead to act out his bloody vengeance on the criminals who murdered him and his girlfriend. It’s a very simple story beautifully told, and the film did a great job of transplanting O’Barr’s vision to the big screen. You may be able to guess, I’m a bit of a fan. So I was very excited to hear from The Geek Files that a brand new film is in the making.
In the original story Eric Draven is resurrected by a crow and sets out to hunt down his murderers, by the end of the story Draven finds peace and returns to the grave. The story for Draven ends there, but several comic book and movie sequels have been produced each following a different tormented soul as the crow guides them on their path to retribution.
The movie sequels didn’t really fare to well, despite some good casts and one even being directed by legendary music director Tim Pope who has worked extensively with The Cure. But I’m still holding out on this new movie, the concept if done well is fantastic.
