Child Burned In Voodoo Ritual

A six year old girl in New York has suffered second and third degree burns on 25% of her body after being burned in a voodoo ritual.

The child’s mother and grandmother were practicing a Haitian voodoo ritual called “Loa”. They covered the girl in petrol and stood her naked in a ring of fire. The girl was badly burned, but the two women merely washed her in cold water and sent her to bed.

The girl, from Queens has permanent mental and physical scarring District Attorney Richard Brown told a court yesterday. If convicted the mother faces 25 years in jail, and the grandmother seven years.
