Satanist Kills Cellmate

Self confessed satanist Clement McNally from Ashton-under-Lyne told Manchester Crown Court that he garroted his cellmate to death after he was instructed by Beelzebub.

Anthony Hesketh, who was serving just four months in prison for driving whilst disqualified was found dead on the floor of the cell he shared with McNally in September 2003. McNally had strangled the father of one to death with a ligature made from a t-shirt, the Manchester Evening News reports.

McNally was serving a life sentence for stabbing a friend to death at a party. Witnesses told the court how McNally’s mental state had been clearly deteriorating in the weeks leading up to the killing of Hesketh. A fellow prisoner who was housed in the cell next door to McNally told the court how he had decorated his cell with satanic symbols and was acting aggressively towards other inmates.

“Everyone could see he was clearly losing his mind,” he said. “He wasn’t all there. You could see the deterioration in his mental state.

McNally was being prescribed anti-depressants for his mood swings, but was given full access to occult literature whilst inside Strangeways Prison in Manchester. He told the forensic psychiatrist investigating the murder that he had been a satanist for two years and had been allowed to read books on devil worship whilst he was serving his life sentence for murder.

He told Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday that he was Satan’s “hands and eyes”, and he carried out the killing at his request.

“I just had these thoughts going through my head to kill him, so I acted upon them. He [Satan] told me to kill him.”

In an earlier statement just after the attack McNally told forensic psychiatrist Prof Jeremy Coid that he had enjoyed killing Hesketh and it gave him a better rush than drink or drugs ever could.

McNally has now denounced Satan, and all his little imps but insists his satanism was not a ruse.
