Black Widow Wins Hot Dog Eating Contest

Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas beat 15 other contestants to be crowned Virginia Hot Dog Eating Champion today.

Sonya gobbled 36 wieners in under 10 minutes to claim the title for the third consecutive year. The Korean born sausage guzzler earned her nickname by defeating men almost twice her size in eating competitions.

The winning technique for Sonya was to tear her hot dogs in half, dunk them in water and jam them down her throat.

But the 100-pound, 41-year-old woman was disappointed with the result. She had hoped to beat Virginia’s hot dog eating record of 39, which she set herself.

“I’m so disappointed” she said.

“You know, I’m not really that full, but we’re eating so fast, it can make me sick. I could eat more if we had more time.”

Thankfully no one threw up their wieners on this occasion. Sonya won $100 and an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete at the July 4 international competition at Coney Island.
