We’ve seen Star Wars weddings before now, but this is the first Doctor Who funeral I’ve heard of.

26 year old Seb Neale sadly died last month following a simple fall which had tragic results. The David Tennant look-a-like was a huge Doctor Who and sci-fi fan, he was happiest whilst creating prop replicas in his shed. To his credit Seb had constructed his own Ghostbusters‘ proton packs, a fully functioning Star Wars Landspeeder and a life size R2-D2 model.

So when the time came for Seb’s family and friends to say their last goodbyes to him, they decided to send him off with a fitting tribute. As mourners entered the Gwent Crematorium yesterday the Star Wars theme tune composed by John Williams was played. Seb’s coffin had been customised by friends, painted blue and with a blue flashing light fitted so it more closely resembled the Doctor’s Tardis.

The order of service card was a superb, glossy programme which showed Seb dressed as his favourite Time Lord, complete with sonic screwdriver and on it was written “I’m a time lord … I’m not a human being. I walk in eternity.”

The service contained recitals of original Doctor Who scripts as apposed to readings from the Bible, and included photos and home videos chronicling Seb’s life.

As Seb’s coffin travelled toward the crematorium furnace and the velvet curtains closed, the Tardis sound effect was heard, then as mourners left the building the Ghostbusters theme was played.
