V: The Series

by Peter Jolly

This autumn ABC will begin broadcasting the exciting re-imagining of the sci-fi classic “V“.

The show originally went out as a mini series in 1983 and starred Marc “Beastmaster” Singer as the head of a resistance organisation fighting the reptilian alien “Visitors” who come to Earth to eat the population. The Visitors wear a human disguise and ingratiate themselves into humanity, but are soon shown to be fascist invaders. The original series played quite heavily on Nazi occupation influences.

Well now the show is back, this time re-worked by 4400 creator Scott Peters and stars two of the cast members of the Joss Whedon hit Serenity, the lovely Morena Baccarin and also Alan Tudyk who UK Whedon fans should see pop up in Dollhouse in the near future. Morena will play the leader of the Visitors.

Other cast members include Joel Gretsch who also appeared in 4400, David Richmond-Peck who has appeared in Smallville, Laura Vandervoort also from Smallville, Party of Five’s Scott Wolf and Lost actress Elizabeth Mitchell.
