Chris Morris, possibly the greatest satirist the world has ever seen is set to release a film about Islamic terrorism in the UK.
Morris, who gave us the sensational and often controversial TV shows, The Day Today, Brasseye and Jam, has received funding from Film4 to produce the movie with Warp Films. His script promises to show the “Dad’s Army side of terrorism”, and will no doubt lead to his own fatwa being issued. The working title for the film is Four Lions, and filming is due to begin in the summer.
Deirdre Steed from Warp Films described the script as “a funny, thrilling fictional story that illuminates modern British jihad with an insight beyond anything else in our culture”.
She then went on to compare it with some other legendary satires. “As Spinal Tap understood heavy metal and Dr. Strangelove the Cold War, Four Lions understands modern British jihadis.”
