Pakistani Elephant Man

This poor wretch is Pakistan’s own “Elephant Man”.

The German newspaper Bild reports that the unnamed man lives in the Pakistani city of Lahore. He is completely illiterate and his only source of income is harassing people at the side of the road and basically intimidating money out of them so he leaves them alone.

It is thought the man is suffering from neurofibromatosis, a terrible genetic condition that the famous Joseph Merrick is sometimes said to have suffered from. The condition causes tumours to grow, and can be very disfiguring.

Although the immediate reaction is to compare this poor chap with the legendary Elephant Man, apparently the local community have christened him the Klingon. How very postmodern.
