A murder trial has begun in the African country Burundi, which borders Tanzania. 11 people are accused of killing and mutilating a dozen albino Africans many of whom were women and children.

The gang is alleged to be hunting and slaying albinos, to harvest their limbs for witch doctors over the border in Tanzania. In the past 18 months that area of East Africa has become a hotbed for albino murders, all linked to black magic rituals that are supposed to bring the user good luck and wealth.

The situation in Tanzania is becoming an ever increasing problem, and international pressure has forced the Tanzanian Government to take action to put an end to the barbaric practice. Traditional healers in the country have been outlawed, and international police agency Interpol have even been drafted in to help solve the issue.

There have been over 50 albino murders in recent months, the victims are literally hacked to pieces by gangs who run off with their severed limbs or genitals and leave them to bleed to death. Up to now there have been several arrests but not one single conviction for the brutal crimes.
