Truancy Blamed On Ghost

A woman in Swindon, Wiltshire appeared in court this week charged with allowing her eight year old daughter and six year old son to skip school. The 29 year old woman, who must remain unnamed for legal reasons explained to the court that she and her children were suffering from lack of sleep due to the exploits of a mischievous poltergeist.

The woman said her council house was overrun with ghosts, they disturbed the families sleep and made life difficult to organise. She explained that she had even gone to the lengths of hiring mediums and priests to exorcise the property, but to no avail.

The family are hoping to move house, and had explained their predicament to the school authorities who offered no sympathy. The young mum was taken to court and received a £300 fine. The truancy took place over 12 months ago.

The chairman of the bench was Felicity Beard. Great name.
