Gibson, the Great Dane was officially recognised as the world’s tallest dog in 2004 when officials from the Guinness Book of Records measured his height as 42.4 inches at the shoulders. When on his hind legs Gibson towers over seven feet in height!

Sadly this week Gibson had an operation near his home in California to remove one of his front legs after being diagnosed with bone cancer. Vets say that the operation will stop the disease from spreading and Gibson now has a 95% better chance of survival.
