Timothy DaltonTimothy Dalton is the latest name to be added to the Doctor Who cast list in at least one of the three upcoming special episodes.

Dalton, who is best known for the worst portrayal of 007 James Bond is reported to be playing a villain in the show. He may even be one of the rumoured evil Time Lords that the Doctor is likely to face in the specials that will be shown at the end of the year.

The Welsh actor has flown in from the green, green grass of home, Los Angeles, to take part in filming around Cardiff. The specials are expected to be a spectacular finale to David Tennant’s 10th Doctor, he will be joined in the show by a stunning cast reunion which includes all his most recent companions played by Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman, Catherine Tate, Elisabeth Sladen and John Barrowman. John Simm is also set to reprise his role as the wicked Master in the episodes which lead up to the Doctor’s regeneration and the introduction of newcomer Matt Smith to the role.

63 year old Dalton played the iconic Bond in just two films, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill, he was most recently seen playing a smashing villain in Simon Pegg’s Hot Fuzz, but for me he will always be most fondly remembered for his part as Prince Barin in the 1980 version of Flash Gordon, where he spoke the immortal line “Freeze, you bloody bastards!” Classic.
