Another Cow Attack

Just over a year ago The Morningstarr* reported the sad case of a woman in Suffolk who was tragically killed when a herd of cows trampled her to death as she was out walking her dogs. It has been reported this week that another cow attack has taken place, this time on the Isle of Man.

52 year old Laura Bazille was also out walking her two dogs, on the morning of 1st May, when a startled cow ran towards her and her pets and knocked her to the ground. The rest of the herd followed the first cow and began trampling and kicking Mrs Bazille for several minutes until she stopped moving. Fortunately for Mrs Bazille the ground was soft and she sank into the cold, wet mud. That probably saved her life.

After Mrs Bazille had been gone for over an hour her husband, Jean-Michel Bazille became concerned and went to look for her. After searching for 30 minutes he met a woman who was holding on to one of the dogs by the lead, she explained to him that she had found Mrs Bazille in the middle of a field and had called an ambulance.

Mrs Bazille was crushed into the ground, covered in hoof marks, blood and cow dung. She had to be taken to intensive care at a hospital in Douglas, she sustained six broken ribs, a punctured lung and extensive cuts and bruises from the attack. Mrs Bazille was lucky to be alive, she remained in intensive care for five days before being moved to a regular ward where she is still being treated for her injuries.
