30 year old Gavin Hyatt from Witney in Oxfordshire walked into his doctor’s surgery to complain that something was literally bursting out of his stomach, the bloody protrusion was in actual fact Gavin’s own twin.
Gavin’s doctor, Joe Santos gave this amazing statement: “It was like something from Alien. I didn’t believe Gavin when he said something was coming out of his belly button until I saw him.”
Gavin explained to The Sun, “Four hospital doctors had previously examined me and were all puzzled by the lump.
“Some thought it was a cyst, others an in-grown hair.
[quote]“Then one said it could be my undeveloped identical twin that I absorbed at a very early stage. I feel absolutely fine now but it has not sunk in yet that I could have had a twin brother. I have him in a jar at home and I call him little Gav. I haven’t told many people. I feel like a bit of a freak.”
Gavin had been suffering for months with a dreadful pain in his stomach, just above his belly button. Then a large lump appeared, and a burning sensation. Dr Santos examined Gavin at that stage and dismissed it as a hernia, but days later the lump began to rupture the skin and burst out of Gavin’s body like the Xenomorph bursting out of John Hurt’s chest in the film Alien. Gavin drove himself to the doctor’s surgery despite bleeding from his stomach and being in intense pain.
At the surgery Dr Santos couldn’t believe his eyes, he plucked “Little Gav” from the wound in Gavin’s tummy and popped him in a specimen jar. Then he patched Gavin up and sent him to hospital for stitches. Dr Santos believes that Gavin’s sudden increase in body mass could have pushed the parasitic twin out of his body.
In one episode of The X-Files there was a story at a travelling carnival freakshow where a man’s parasitic twin would separate itself from his host and go off looking for another person to attach itself to.
