Woman Keeps Dead Mother For Six Years

61 year old Penelope Sharon Jordan has been charged with fraud and theft after keeping her dead mother’s corpse in the spare bedroom for six years and continuing to draw her pension.

Police in Florida found the rotting corpse of Timmie Jordan on a bed in her daughter’s spare room. Penelope Jordan had told authorities that her mother had gone to live in Melbourne. When police were called to investigate a report of nuisance cats at the address they discovered the dead old lady and Jordan confessed that her mother passed away in 2003.

An autopsy ruled that Timmie Jordan had died of natural causes, and the police suspected no foul play. At the time Penelope Jordan had explained that she had kept her mother’s corpse in the spare room because she couldn’t afford a burial. However US prosecutors have argued that Penelope Jordan deliberately concealed her mother’s death so she could continue to receive her social security and pension payments. Jordan is accused of stealing over £150,000 by fraudulent means.
