Chechen Rebels Behead Russian Soldier

Chechen rebels have this month beheaded a Russian soldier in an alleged revenge attack for the kidnap and rape of Chechen people who support the Mujahideen fighters. A video showing two casualties of a battle between the Russian soldier and the rebels was posted on the official website of the Islamic Emirate of the Cuacuses. The video is dated

The translated page is a little difficult to understand, but it would seem the Russian soldier was named Murtada Ahdan, and the rebels did not think very fondly of him. He is accused of kidnapping and even raping the relatives of Mujahideen rebels, and was holding the aunt and uncle of a rebel and demanding the rebels surrendered. The rebels say they agreed to a meeting and at the start of the video everyone appears to be getting along nicely, as if on a “picnic”. But according to the Islamic Emirate of the Cuacuses a gun battle then took place in which they were victorious and Murtada Ahdan ended up with his head separated from his body. From what I can understand the hostages, the aunt and uncle, were later executed because of it. Not quite the win I’d have hoped for, but the rebels seemed pleased with it.

The video doesn’t show the gun battle or the beheading, just the aftermath which is still quite graphic.
