The Hunt For Gollum

by Peter Jolly

The Hunt For Gollum premiers today (Sunday 3rd May) at 16:00 GMT.

It’s a 40 minute fan film inspired by The Lord of the Rings shot in North Wales and is a completely non-commercial venture. But don’t let that put you off, film sites have been buzzing about this film for months now because if the trailers are anything to go by it looks like it’s going to be a very impressive feature for a non-profit making outfit who have committed time, money and energy to the project through a sheer love of Tolkien.

The script is adapted from the appendices of Lord of the Rings and tells the story of The Heir of Isildur, Aragorn, a ranger who must find Gollum to discover the truth about the Ring.

The wizard Gandalf, and the elf Arwen also feature in the film, but there is no sign of any hobbits. Nor is there much footage Gollum, and the quality of the CGI that will be used to represent him is eagerly anticipated.

The film is only available online, it will be available to download at www.hunt4gollum.com or you can watch it at Daily Motion. There is also a screening of the film at the Sci-Fi Film Festival in London this afternoon.
