A postman in Somerset got the shock of his life when he was bitten by a poisonous snake which leapt out from a postbox.
58 year old Alan Wakley was emptying mail from a postbox embedded in a wall in Brean Cove when he was attacked by an adder which had decided to make the postbox it’s home.
“Its fangs went straight into the back of my hand, giving me a very sharp pain” said Mr Wakley.
In true John Wayne style Mr Wakley tossed the reptile aside, sucked the venom from the wound and carried on his daily business without even seeking medical assistance.
The post box has now been sealed to prevent further serpent infestation.
