Hot on the heels of the Somerset postman being attacked by a native snake, a woman in Bournemouth is complaining that her home is being invaded by foreign intruders from the exotic pet shop she lives next door to.
Kerry Allison explained how she spotted a four foot corn snake slithering across her living room whilst she was trying to watch television one evening. She managed to capture and secure the reptile, then attempted to make her home snake-proof by sealing any gaps she found in the adjoining walls.
However, Kerry then discovered crickets were gathering in her bathroom and a swarm of locusts were making their way into the property. Noticing her pet cat Tiger (pictured) acting distressed Kerry investigated further and discovered a striped Honduran milk snake in her bathroom cupboard.
The milk snake was more of a handful than the corn snake and acted aggressively towards Kerry and a neighbour who was trying to help her. After Kerry’s neighbour was bitten twice by the snake she resorted to smashing the animals brains out with a claw hammer.
Reptiles Plus of Seabourne Road, Bournemouth have refused to comment on the matter. According to their website “the animals welfare is our prime concern, both when they are in our care and when they are in yours”
Bournemouth environmental health are investigating the matter.
