Like father like son?

Andrei Chikatilo

The son of infamous serial killer Andrei Chikatilo has been arrested in Ukraine on suspicion of attempted murder.

39 year old Yury Odnacheva was in the city of Kharkov in east Ukraine with an acquaintance supposedly on business. Odnacheva followed his 30 year old companion into a public convenience and allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the man multiple times in the stomach.

The injured man managed to escape and fled in his car to a nearby market area. He was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery to save his life. The hospital reports that the treatment has been successful and the man is expected to make a full recovery.

Odnacheva, who has a previous record for theft and extortion, has denied the charges and claims the man stole his car and got into an argument with someone else.

His father Andrei Chikatilo was put to death in 1994 for the murder and cannibalism of 53 people, mostly women and children.
