In January it was confirmed that there will be a remake of the 80s horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street, and the latest news is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles actor Thomas Dekker has landed a role in the movie.
The main role in the film is that of toasted paedophile Freddy Kruger, that part has been given to Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley. He will get a chance to try out his razor glove on Dekker who has been cast as Jesse, a swim team jock who will inevitably meet Freddy in his nightmares.
In the original movie the jock role was played by a fresh faced Johnny Depp, who ended up being liquidised along with his TV in his own bed. The only survivor in the original was the heroine Nancy, so unless there have been some complete re-writes it’s not looking too good for young Dekker.
Dekker who plays the young John Connor in SCC may well be looking for plenty of steady work as this week the rumour mill has been working overtime regarding the status of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Television network Fox haven’t made any official announcement but insiders have been leaking news of it’s cancellation all week.
“It’s done,” maintains a source close to the show. “Everyone has pretty much known for a couple of weeks.” Adds a network insider: “Consider it canceled.”
The show was still bringing in audiences of over three and a half million, and Fox haven’t officially written it off but the hopes of a third season this autumn are very low.
