World’s Most Pierced Woman

Elaine Davidson, originally from Brazil made a public appearance on Saturday to formally open a brand new piercing studio in Darlington, County Durham.

Ms Davidson holds the world record for body piercings with a staggering 6,005 piercings, including more than 1,500 which are internal. Elaine first entered the record books in May 2000 when a Guinness World Record official confirmed she had 462 piercings, almost 200 of them in her face alone. Since then she has gone from strength to strength pushing the total over the 6,000 mark and having at least 500 piercings in her genitals. The combined weight of her body jewelery tips the scales at over 3 kilograms.

Elaine is originally from Brazil but now lives in Edinburgh and works as a nurse. Strangely Elaine says her family are all against body piercing and tattooing, and she says she doesn’t enjoy the piercing procedure but she gladly suffers for her art.

She said: “I don’t enjoy getting pierced, but to break the record you have got to get to a high level. I wanted to break the record for something.

“My family don’t like tattoos or piercings, but I just totally broke the rules. But I am happy. I decided to change myself and be me.”

In Arcadia are an alternative fashion boutique situated on Skinnergate, Darlington. Owner Les Fry is a friend of Ms Davidson and got her to agree to open the new body piercing department.

The studio offers the latest techniques, including micro-dermal piercings, which instead of going through two sides of the skin, only go through one side, with the backing underneath the skin.

Les Fry told us: “Elaine is a friend and she has very kindly agreed to open the shop.

“We have got an excellent piercing artist who can perform the most up-to-date techniques.”
