Witch Doctors Arrested In Tanzania

This week saw the first arrests for Tanzanian Witch Doctors trading illegally since Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda revoked all licences in the country a month ago. Albino Hunting Update

Three traditional healers have been arrested in the north of the country, they were travelling around the northern district of Serengeti performing their business from the back of a car. The arrests were made just days after another albino, a 14 year old girl, was murdered and mutilated by albino hunters collecting body parts. The girl was from the country’s northern Mwanza region, a gang of men stormed into her bedroom as she slept and murdered her with knives then cut off her legs and fled. Two men are being held in connection with the slaying, one of them is the girl’s father.

The death toll due to these brutal acts now stands at 45, but at this time not one conviction has been made against anyone charged with the slayings. The countries albino population is around 200,000 and dropping.
