So called “Doctor Death” Harold Shipman was branded boring by a top cop working on the serial killer’s case. In newly discovered letters Shipman wrote from his prison cell The News of the World has revealed that the doctor was furious about comments he read about himself on the internet.

Whilst Dr Shipman Googled for himself online he came a cross a statement by a senior police officer working in Ashton-under-Lyne saying “He’s the most boring mass murderer I’ve come accross.”

Shipman was jailed in 2000 for the murders of 15 people by poisoning. After his conviction an inquiry decided he had probably killed as many as 250 people. He hanged himself in his prison cell in 2004.

This latest discovery of personal letters was made by the son of an elderly couple who remained in contact with Shipman after his conviction refusing to believe their GP could possibly be the monster he was made out to be. The unnamed couple were certain it was a miscarriage of justice and a terrible mistake had been made. Many residents in Hyde in Greater Manchester where Shipman worked shared this disbelief that such a wonderful doctor could have committed such a crime.

The letters have been uncovered stashed away in the couples attic shortly after they died. The man who found the letters made these comment:

“My parents held their GP in high esteem. They refused to believe he was guilty of murder and thought he would be released once the police realised they had made a stupid mistake.”

“What is most chilling is the fact my parents could easily have become victims of Shipman too. But they were so convinced by him that thought never entered their heads.”

In the letters Shipman expressed anger over the comments made about him by the police officer and told his friends he would complain to the Chief Constable. The elderly couple even kept a bottle of champagne in their fridge, ready to celebrate Shipman’s release.
