Max Fabian becomes a centenarian on 9th March, but he still works five days a week and drives his car to and from work everyday.

At a time when the global recession is hitting many people hard, unemployment is rising and jobs are scarce, 99 year old Max is till grafting away at the job he started just 20 years ago when he was a sprightly 79 years old. He works as a general dogsbody at an electrical cable and wire warehouse in Illinois, his duties include warehouse inspection and collecting the mail. Prior to his position he spent 30 years at a similar company doing the same thing.

Max has these words of advice for any young punks worried about their job prospects:

“Do the job the best you can and listen to the man on top,” he said. “That’s how you keep the job.”

Max told us that loyalty, trustworthiness and flexibility at the best characteristics for maintaining a long career. So a bit of brown-nosing is a must if you want to continue to be able to pay your mortgage in these hard times.
