Animal Abusers Apprehended

The two teenagers who this weekend posted a video account of their systematic torture of a defenceless cat have been arrested by their local police force and may now face prosecution. Details of the video can be found here: Animal Abuser Is Latest Internet Viral Hit

Sheriff Kenny Stradley was interviewed by 7News in Lawton Oklahoma where he gave his views on the case and confirmed they were putting together a case against the perpetrators for the District Attorney.

“This is not a good deal. It s just…I have a lot of feelings for animals, and so to see something like this really bothers me. There’s no use in treating an animal like that,” he said.

“We’ll put it together and take it to the D.A. It will be up to the D.A. whether or not he files charges or not. Our job is to put the investigation together as a case and take it to the DA and that’s what we’ll do,” said Stradley.

Thanks to amateur internet detective work from concerned YouTube users a profile was compiled on the abusers using information gleaned from Myspace and Facebook accounts, once this information was collected people contacted 7News and Lawton police department who then acted on it.

The culprits have been released to their parents and they will meet with investigators on Tuesday to decide the next course of action. Dusty the cat has been removed from the home and is in the care of a veterinarian where it will remain at least until the investigation is completed. We will hopefully see justice for Dusty!
