A 36 year old man in Singapore has been handed a hefty 14 year prison term, and 18 strokes of the cane, for sniffing women’s armpits. The man, who is reported to be mentally ill, has previous convictions for drug and sex-related crimes.
He was arrested after a housewife reported him to the police for sniffing her armpits and touching her. An investigation revealed the man had touched women and sniffed their armpits on 23 separate occasions in lifts, staircases and even in their own homes.
The particularly harsh sentence was handed out due to the high risk of the man repeatedly offending, caning of the buttocks is an additional punishment that is given at the judge’s discretion.
