New York: Cari Abatemarco was woken by her baby crying last night, when she went to investigate she looked into the baby’s crib and saw a snake wrapped around the baby’s leg.
She immediately lifted the seven month old child out of the crib and the snake dropped off.
“Once I lifted her up and the snake fell off of her, she stopped crying. But then I was the one crying all night,” Abatemarco said.
The offending reptile was plucked from the crib using a back scratcher and contained in a bucket until animal control officers arrived.
The snake was later identified as a non-venomous California king snake, and was an escaped pet.
