14 year old Austrian schoolboy Holger Vukovich caught a monster sized 112lb 7ft catfish on his first ever fishing trip.
A 28 year old Romanian man was reported to the police by his neighbours when they grew tired of loud roaring coming from his property.
Investigating officers discovered a three year old lioness in a cage, a stag, two deer and two peacocks roaming his grounds.
The lioness has been taken to the Bucharest zoo, and the man faces a heavy fine and a possible one year jail sentence.
He will however be permitted to keep his cocks.
London FrightFest will be premiering Dario Argento’s latest offering Mother of Tears before it’s UK DVD release.
Mother of Tears is the final part in Argento’s Three Mothers Trilogy which began in 1977 with the revered classic Suspiria and continued with the equally impressive Inferno in 1980.

A German man has survived a 25ft fall down a lift shaft with minor injuries, due to landing on a woman that fell down the shaft the day earlier!
27 year old Jens Wilhelms from Frankfurt fell down the lift shaft in his apartment block when the doors to the shaft had been left open whilst maintenance was being carried out. Wilhelms was peering down the shaft to see if there was any indication to whether repair work had started when he slipped and toppled over the edge.
Luckily for Wilhelms he didn’t hit the floor, but landed on the unconscious body of a 57 year old woman who had fallen down the shaft a day earlier.
Despite the impact of Wilhelms landing on the woman causing her more injuries, the accident probably saved her life. Wilhelms was able to climb out of the lift shaft uninjured and call for help. The woman was rushed to hospital where she is said to be in a critical but stable condition. If Wilhelms hadn’t fallen on the woman she may have laid undetected for longer and eventually died from internal bleeding.
Here at The Morningstarr* the question on everyone’s lips is “did Wilhelms let out a real Wilhelm Scream as he toppled over the edge?”
One of two escaped red pandas is still at large in Kirkcudbright in Scotland.
The pandas escaped from Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park in February this year during a violent storm when a tree fell into the pandas enclosure, and a search has been on since then to find the pair. Today one of the pair, a mother and daughter duo, has been found alive and well two miles from the park perched up a tree.
The panda named Pichu has been returned to the park after a veterinary examination, but the younger panda is still loose in the area.
Park keepers have now set traps to catch the second fugitive who they believe will be close by to where Pichu was found, hiding in the tree tops.
The pandas are native to the Himalayas and mountainous areas of China and Mayanmar and can survive easily in Scotland feeding on fruit and berries and sheltering in trees. The remaining escapee, Isla is the size of a dog and has a black curly tail. Isla isn’t a threat to the public, but park officials are asking the general public to keep an eye out for the animal and to report any sightings immediately.
The pandas are a family unit, the remaining family member Mushu is Isla’s father and was distressed and constantly pining since his family went AWOL.
Authorities in Rochester, Washington. used a warrant to enter the home of a woman who’s house was overrun with hundreds of rats.
The floor of the house was covered in rat faeces and the carpets soaked in rat urine. The rats roamed freely around the property, chewing through walls and furniture. Animal services had been alerted to the infestation months earlier, but Michelle Diller was unhelpful in trying to remedy the problem. The woman referred to the rats as “her friends” and didn’t want anything done to them.
The cause of the infestation appears to be from rats bought as reptile food escaping and allowed to thrive unhindered.
Besides the rat situation, animal welfare officers had to rescue four malnourished snakes from the property. Two boa constrictors, a corn snake and a king snake were taken from the house to be treated at a local veterinarian practice.

Former rapper and reality TV star Vanilla Ice, real name Robert Van Winkle has been arrested for domestic battery after allegedly assaulting his wife Laura.
Laura Van Winkle rang cops to report Ice hitting and kicking her, when police arrived Mrs Van Winkle retracted her earlier allegations saying Ice had merely pushed her. This didn’t stop the police from pressing charges and detaining Mr Van Winkle who remains in custody at the time of going to press.
Vanilla Ice is no stranger to police action, he has a previous record for domestic battery dating back to 2004 and has also faced charges for driving unlicensed.
Mrs Van Winkle is said to be pursuing a divorce settlement.

The daughter of Beatrice Magaha from Charles Town, West Virginia, was clearing the contents of her recently deceased mother’s house when to her horror she discovered the rotting remains of a woman hidden in her mother’s closet.
Mrs Magaha died on the 2nd April 2008 from head injuries when she had a stroke and fell to the ground hitting her head. The next day her daughter and husband alerted police to a nauseous smell coming from Mrs Magaha’s closet. On investigating the body of an elderly woman was found, stuffed inside a sleeping bag.
Mrs Magaha had shared her home with an elderly woman, but she has been unseen for almost two years. Autopsy reports showed no signs of foul play, but the police are treating the case as suspicious.
A DNA sample has been taken to try to identify the corpse.
