Story published on April 29, 2008
An investigation is under way to find out what caused a herd of cattle to trample a woman to death this week.
The tragedy happened on Sunday, close to Bungay in Suffolk. An unnamed 40 year old woman was walking her two dogs on their leads through a field of grazing cattle. The cows may have been protecting their calves from the threat of the dogs.
The public were alerted when the woman’s blood soaked Jack Russell terrier ran into a nearby restaurant. Local man John Sanderson ran to the woman’s aid but was unable to resuscitate her.
The woman is believed to have died of a heart attack after sustaining the attack.
