14 year old Austrian schoolboy Holger Vukovich caught a monster sized 112lb 7ft catfish on his first ever fishing trip.

Holger’s grandfather had taken him and a school friend to a pond in their hometown Baumgarten for a fishing lesson. But within minutes Holger hooked the massive fish and was nearly pulled into the water.

He said: “We actually wanted to fish for carp, but almost straight away I hooked a fish. At first I was a bit scared because the fish pulled so hard I almost ended up in the water.

“But then I managed to start reeling it in. The problem was it was so heavy that we needed to use a winch to drag it out. It took us about half an hour.”

Holger plans to keep the fish’s stuffed head as a trophy, and vows to become a keen fisherman from now on.
